Hillcrest Farms is a welcoming place for new and established equestrians. 

The Coats family has built Hillcrest Farms in their backyard located in Smithfield North Carolina. Their beautiful private facility has over 100 acres where they have built two barns, two lighted riding arenas, and a round pen for their clients to enjoy. The facility offers a lounge for non equestrians to relax while their family member enjoys their equine partners.

Hillcrest Farms offers training programs for all levels of riders whose goal is to show and be competitive in Hunter/jumpers, Equitation, Dressage, Eventing, Huntseat, Western Pleasure and Reining or just have fun. The riders at Hillcrest farms have competed and done well at schooling shows as well at the rated shows.

The mission of Hillcrest Farms Smithfield is to provide a family atmosphere for community to connection, and cultivate a respect and love for the land and its animals through education, conservation and outdoor recreation.

Hillcrest Farms, encompasses nearly 80 acres just outside the city limits of Smithfield, NC. The primary residence of Stan and Kelly Coats is also located on this beautiful farmland.

Vincienzo Santos

Vincienzo Santos has years of experience showing aged event horses as well coaching nonpro's to reach thier goals in the show pen. iSlide has coached and shown multiple world and Congress champions as well as major event finalists.

Kate McAlinn

Kate was raised in New York State on her parents' horse facility; she participated in 4-H, was a member of the Cayuga Dressage & CT Club and rode on the Hunter circuit. Some of her childhood trainers included Sue Kantz, who worked for Olympian Katie Monahan for many years, and Donna Canfield, who brought many of her Trakehners through the Grand Prix level. Kate relocated to North Carolina to attend St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Equine Business Management in 3 years. She was an IHSA hunt seat team member, and competed at both Regional and Zones. After graduating, she had the opportunity to work for 2 ½ years with Harold Chopping of Southern Pines (a former Canadian Olympic team member) working with hunter/jumpers and traveling on the East Coast Circuit. Kate is certified as a USHJA Trainer and an open horse show judge. She also teaches students of her own across various disciplines, coaches IEA and YEDA teams, and trains  “AA” show green ponies.

 

Her teaching methods are positive. She believes in continuing her education and applying the best methodology that will meet the needs of both the student and horse. She is hard-working, honest, and possesses a true love of the sport.
